Ashton Jeanty of Boise State sets his sights on the Heisman Trophy and the upcoming NFL draft.

 BOISE, Idah – Heisman Trophy contender Ashton Jeanty announced on Thursday that this will be his final season with Boise State

Leading the nation in rushing with an impressive 2,288 yards on 312 attempts and a total of 28 touchdowns, Jeanty has long been anticipated to declare for the NFL Draft following his record-breaking season. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. currently ranks him sixth on his Big Board.

Jeanty is just 341 yards away from eclipsing Barry Sanders' all-time single-season rushing record, with at least two games remaining to achieve this milestone.

The upcoming Mountain West championship game on Friday presents Jeanty with his final opportunity to bolster his Heisman Trophy candidacy.

"I believe I'm the best player in the country," Jeanty stated during the Mountain West Conference championship press conference. "I've made that known every week, and my approach remains consistent. I take it one week at a time. If I am chosen to win the Heisman, then I win. However, my primary focus is on delivering my best performance for my teammates and coaches, while striving for a championship."

Jeanty and Boise State (11-1, 7-0 MW, No. 10 CFP) will be in the national spotlight on Friday as they host UNLV (10-2, 6-1, No. 20 CFP) for the Mountain West title and a place in this year's College Football Playoff for Group of 5 teams.

Currently, Jeanty ranks fifth all-time for single-season rushing yards and requires just 55 yards to surpass USC icon and 1981 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Allen.

The Broncos, who have only lost once this season—an agonizing last-second field goal to No. 1 Oregon in September—previously faced UNLV on October 25 in Las Vegas, securing a 29-24 victory. In that matchup, Jeanty recorded his second-lowest rushing total of the season, finishing with 128 yards and one touchdown on 33 carries.
